Jenniffer Gonzalez Announces $20 Million in Federal Funding for Airports

10 airports on the island will be able to carry out new infrastructure works thanks to $20,313,466 in federal funds, announced Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón.

Airport appropriations are included in the bipartisan infrastructure bill and can be used for any new airport projects. This funding is distributed through a formula and would be in addition to the funding an airport would receive as part of its regular formula funding for FY22, through the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program. .

The funds are distributed as follows: Rafael Hernández in Aguadilla will receive $3,092,766; the Antonio/Nery/Juarbe Pol de Arecibo airport $159,000; the José Aponte De La Torre airport in Ceiba $1,015,664; the Dr. Hermenegildo Ortiz Quiñones airport in Humacao $110,000; the Benjamín Rivera Noriega airport in Culebra $1,014,273; the Antonio Rivera Rodríguez airport in Vieques $1,023,995; the Eugenio María De Hostos airport in Mayagüez $295,000; the Mercedita airport in Ponce $1,381,880; the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport $11,210,331; and the Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci airport in Isla Grande $1,010,557.
